Support Local-Shop Small
Good Morning! I want to talk about shopping small businesses for the holiday season. Small Business Saturday is coming up on Saturday, November 28th. In the last few years, I have been making it a point to support local shops as much as I can. I enjoy seeing the owner’s passion in what they do and meet new people in the community. Shopping small is supporting people like you, who are trying to make a living doing something they love and enjoy. It seems like more than ever we are seeing people hone in on a craft that they might have been doing just as a hobby and now it’s…

Ladies of the Church
This post has been mulling around in my head for the last several days. Last weekend I headed back home to Illinois for a quick trip. Over the past year I have started listening to podcasts when I travel on my own. It makes the time go by faster than just listening to music. One of my favorite podcasts to listen to is Jamie Ivey’s podcast, The Happy Hour. My five hour drive home is truly a much happier one when I listen to her guests share their stories. I have been left encouraged and inspired on more than one occasion. It was on one of Jamie’s most recent podcast…

These Are a Few of My Favorite Things
How many of you just sang that title in your head when you looked at it? Anyone? Just me? Ok. Well, I haven’t posted in a while because I got caught up in making crafts. When I get into craft mode, I tend to push other things off and blogging happened to be one of those things. But, I’m back at it! Fall is my favorite season. The leaves changing color, the break in humidity, sweater weather, Harvest, wiener roasts and, of course, the pumpkins. Normally, I would have hit up a pumpkin patch at least once, but I didn’t do that this year. (And no, I’m not bitter because…

Baked Spaghetti
For my husband’s birthday this year, he requested baked spaghetti. There were two problems with that request. No, actually there were three. I had never made baked spaghetti, I didn’t even have a recipe and I discovered later that we didn’t have any spaghetti on hand. I had a lot of other pasta noodles except that one. Pinterest to the rescue! (at least for the first two problems) I went to Pinterest and searched for Baked Spaghetti and found one seemed pretty easy by The Cozy Cook. I did tweak it a bit to fit our liking, such as leaving out the peppers and using minced onion instead of real…

It’s Harvest Time!
It’s Harvest time here in Iowa and all around the Midwest, which also means that allergies are acting up as well. The first day of Fall for us here in North Central Iowa was not sweater weather either. Nope; in fact, this week is 80 degree weather for us. Our sweater weather was last week. I had to make a quick trip to Walmart and right across the street is a bean field that was being harvested. If you know bean fields, you know that bean dust fills the air. I went in the store and came out about five minutes later. As I was driving home, I noticed that…
